Issue: Summer 2015
The Big Sky Journal asked me to write a short essay about rivers for their Summer 2015 print and online issues. I created this kinda-odd dramatic monologue.
Here, I put a new twist on the age-old Western river theme of the “strange, wise man along the river handing out unexpected, meandering thoughts." I channeled this theme through a Voodoo Lady who presents her peculiar sermon on the river bank. Paired with the art of illustrator-genius Jesse Greenwood, it makes for somewhat of a Rocky Mountain fairytale.
